conventions:
January; Chattanooga, TN. A fairly small party con. No big-name guests (generally), not much in the way of grand entertainment, but the room parties can't be beat! They also have a decent costume contest and Saturday night dance. Tends to draw a decent GLBT crowd. Plus they have free-flowing beer and cider in their Con Suite!
October; Tucker, GA. TimeGate is a one-day event that focuses on Doctor Who and Stargate fandom. Features panels, videos and movies, live music, free buffet, contests, lots of gaming.
March; Chattanooga, TN. A small-ish sci-fi/fantasy con with a different theme each year.
March; Atlanta, GA. MomoCon is an amime/comics con that takes place at the Georgia Tech Student Center
June; Atlanta, GA. SFS is a small, homegrown SF/Fantasy con. No big-name guests; the panels are all fan-organized; very decent con suite; very good video and 16mm movie rooms that features all sorts of rare things. Usually features live music as well. Outworlders usually has a big presence here, with room parties, panels, fan table, etc.
September; Atlanta, GA. A large-ish anime con in Atlanta
Labor Day Weekend; Atlanta, GA. The big daddy of all cons! Hundreds of name guests, lots of live bands, elaborate costuming, enormous Dealers' Room, tens of thousands of attendees...this is the grand holiday on the geek calendar. Outworlders is very involved, usually with both a room party and a fan table.
September; Atlanta, GA. The International GI Joe Collectors Convention (or JoeCon) will take place in Atlanta this year at the Marriott Marquis on Sep. 27-30.
October, Chattanooga, TN. Hallowcon, unsurprisingly, is a con that celebrates Hallowe'en.
June, Toronto, ONT. Gaylaxicon is a roving con, held in a different city at a different time each year. Gaylaxicon 2006 was hosted by our neighbors to the north.
October, Atlanta, GA. Gaylaxicon '07 will be here, right in our backyard (but not up on blocks).
October, Washington, DC 2008's Gaylaxicon is hosted by Lambda Sci-Fi.
